Established in 1594 by Riemon Ouno near Hongwanji Temple in Kyoto, Kungyokudo has served the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Buddhist school for generations. Today, the 22nd-generation leaders Kazuo Ouno and Chihaya Ouno continue this legacy as Japan’s oldest incense manufacturer.
