The art of lantern making in Gifu, Japan, dates back to the 16th century. Gifu lanterns are renowned worldwide, especially through Isamu Noguchi’s iconic Akari light sculptures. Within Japan, many designers and brands continue to practice this traditional craft.
Established in 1949, Fores has been creating exquisite interior products primarily using Gifu Mino Washi paper. The Suwa factory, nestled in the beautiful Mino region, operates an integrated production system including paper making, woodworking, painting, ironwork, and assembly.
